Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).  Those who have godly remorse that leads to repentance, and have accepted Christ’s payment on the cross to satisfy the penalty for their sins, have been justified–made right with God.  Those so justified are in the process of sanctification; that is, the ongoing process by the power of the Holy Spirit to conform us into the image of Christ, which is the will of God (I Thess. 4:3).  The Word declares that we are to live a life in the Spirit worthy of our calling, a holy life. In the future at Christ’s triumphant return we will have our full redemption: glorified bodies in eternity with our Lord and Savior (I Cor. 15:42-44).
